Is your car due for renewal or driver’s license? You may read this before going to your appointment date. If your schedule is within Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan, cancel it now or reschedule later of the month. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced that all of its offices located where Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) are in effect will be closed until August 18, 2020.

LTO’s Executive Director, Atty. Romeo Vera Cruz confirms the announcement of bringing back Metro Manila and selected the City’s back to MECQ.  Only General Community Quarantine areas are allowed to operate with low-risk of transmission.

How about the renewal of thousands of motorists expiring this month? Good news, the Land Transportation Office just announced that they have extended the registration period for another 30 days. It will ease the burden of those registrations are due this month and last July. For vehicles ending with plate numbers 6,7, and 8 can still be used until September 30, 2020. or vehicle owners that have plates ending in 9 and 0, their MV registration is valid until October 31, 2020, and November 30, 2020, respectively.

“We are continuously extending the validity and the period for renewal of registration of motor vehicles since March. This is in adherence to the directive of Secretary Tugade, at the start of the community quarantine, to consider the health and economic crisis we are facing,” said Edgar Galvante, LTO Assistant Secretary.

“Aside from considering the financial health of motorists, we have crafted this schedule so that we can create a systematic and organized process of renewal of motor vehicle registration in all our offices. This is also to ensure that the clients’ and our employees’ welfare are well-protected at all cost,” added Galvante

With the newly back Modified Enhance Community Quarantine for two weeks, You may sit back and wait for fourteen days to pass before going to any business Sattelite of offices of LTO. In the meantime, if you don’t need to go out for basic goods or work, just stay home and stay safe.
